Compiling and linking SABRE

UNIX machines

Serial Sabre

Place the source files in the directory of your choice and make that the current directory. A number of makefiles are provided to build serial and parallel Sabre and the sabreStata plugin. Choose the makefile for the system and compiler which you are using or edit the one for the system/compiler combination closest to the one you are using and type:

make -f makefile all (where makefile is the makefile of your choice)

The compiler option -fast, to optimise run time, has been found to work successfully on the Unix systems at Lancaster.

Parallel Sabre

Parallel Sabre has been implemented at Lancaster using the MPICH version of the MPI library. The way in which a parallel version is compiled and run is much more system specific and you may need advice from your local system support person before editing the makefile. The makefile Makefile.pgf.hpcP is suitable for the Portland Group compiler and the MPI installation on the HPC at Lancaster.

As in the serial version the compiler option -fast, to optimise run time, has been found to work successfully on the Solaris systems at Lancaster.
