OFFSET

Sabre manual

Syntax: OFFSET variable
where variable is the name of the offset variable.

Purpose:
The OFFSET command declares an a priori known component to be included in the linear predictor during model fitting. The offset itself is an explanatory variable - which may be both subject and time period specific - whose coefficient is fixed at 1.0, and is thus constant throughout the fitting process.

Once declared, an offset remains in force for all subsequent fits until changed by another OFFSET command. Note that a null OFFSET statement cancels any existing offset.

In order to include an offset in a homogeneous model, it is necessary to use the FIT command with no end-points and a single mass point.
